Goodbye, 2016. Hello, Dallas!

Wow! 2016 was a crazy roller coaster ride of a year for Urban Farmhouse Designs. It was full of projects, laughs, smiling customers and record sales.  And to be completely honest - we’re pretty proud of how far we’ve come in just twelve (what felt like extremely) short months.

It seemed like every time we wrapped up a project or put a tool down we were immediately on to the next big idea or event and stretching our imagination, skill and sometimes energy (haha) to achieve whatever lies on the next level of farmhouse evolution.  We’ve never had so much fun and we’ve never been quite so tired, but all in all, 2016 was a rocking year for our little OKC store that has now blossomed into more than we could ever imagine.

We kicked off the spring by creating this cute little potting station. Watching customers build their own succulent gardens and carefully handpick each tiny little plant was so much fun. We’ll definitely need a repeat version of this in 2017 to get our hands dirty and ready for spring!

Over the summer we completely revamped our second warehouse which is now known as Farmhouse Finds. Digging for these old farmhouse antiques was the highlight of the summer and the opportunity to offer them to our customers in this fun warehouse made it that much sweeter! We’re continuing to develop this space and make it even more shoppable for all of our visitors, so keep checking back for changes and new unique finds.

We also launched Urban Farmhouse Lumber Co. this year to give all of our wonderful customers the opportunity to get their hands on our reclaimed materials for their own projects! We plan to grow and expand the lumber company to be the one-stop-shop for all of your weekend projects and DIY adventures. Keep checking back for exclusive access to reclaimed barn wood from all over the country.

Fast forward to fall and our Spooktacular event! It was so much fun for the kiddos and adults! We had a photo booth, face painting, food trucks, fashion trucks and even offered beer samples for the adults. Graham Colton came out and serenaded our shoppers with some sweet tunes while they mingled amongst the fashion trucks and yummy snack options. It was the perfect way to spend a fall-almost-halloween evening in Oklahoma City.

Once we realized how fun it was to throw events down at UFD, we got a little crazy with our next event, Mistletoe & Margaritas. We handed out ONE THOUSAND margaritas that night and the warehouse was packed shoulder to shoulder. Jason was a little surprised at what we managed to pull off and asked us to cool it down for the next one. Haha. Not a chance, buddy.

December was a very busy month for us. In addition to Mistletoe & Margaritas, we also had our favorite photo shoot EVER for the holidays. We loaded up the kiddos, bull dogs and about fifteen fabulous Urban Farmhouse employees and headed out to a local tree farm. The photos were spread out over social media throughout the month and had just the right amount of nostalgia to make us wish we could drive The Woody every day and it always be Christmas.

We ended the year with a bang by adopting our newest little shop dog Jigg and spending the evening sipping milk and eating cookies with Santa all while listening to the tunes of Graham Colton once again.

2016 has been a year for the books! If you visited Urban Farmhouse prior to 2016 and haven’t had a chance to stop in recently, you really should plan a trip. So much has changed and is always changing around the original warehouse.

What we’re REALLY excited about, though, is what is coming in 2017. We’ve spent the last few weeks plotting out our BRAND NEW location in the Dallas Farmer’s Market. Jason and I have been dreaming of a Dallas location since the beginning and can’t believe the time has finally come to start planning and building. So, if you stop into the Farmer’s Market within the next few months and hear some commotion going on at the new location, give us a wave! We’ll be busy bringing Urban Farmhouse to Texas and we can’t wait for you to experience it in the summer of 2017.
